Stirrup & Rebar Bending Machine Automation

PLC-controlled automatic bending and pulling of reinforcement bar into programmed shapes.

Stirrup & Rebar Bending Machine Automation - PLC-controlled automatic bending and pulling of reinforcement bar into programmed shapes.

The challenge

Stirrup shapes change constantly between jobs, and manual setting meant long changeovers and inconsistent dimensions. Bending high-tensile bar also demands precise torque control to hit angles repeatably as material properties vary.

How we approached it

PLC and HMI control with stored shape programs, so a changeover is a recipe selection rather than a re-setup
Servo-controlled feed length with encoder feedback for repeatable cut dimensions
High-torque drive control tuned for springback compensation on varying bar grades
Operator interface designed for shop-floor use rather than engineering use

The outcome

Changeover between stirrup shapes drops from a manual setup to a recipe selection
Dimensional consistency holds across batches and operators
Programmed batch counts remove manual tallying
