The challenge
Mesh and sieve production needs accurate wire lengths and consistent crimp geometry. Manual length setting introduced cumulative error across a panel, and crimp quality varied with operator technique.
How we approached it
Servo-driven feed with encoder measurement for repeatable wire length
Crimp cycle sequenced by PLC with position confirmation before cut
HMI recipe handling for wire gauge, pitch and batch quantity
Crimp detection so a missed or partial crimp halts the cycle rather than passing through
The outcome
Cumulative length error across a panel is eliminated
Crimp geometry stays consistent regardless of operator
Batch handling and counting run without manual tracking
