Automatic Stirrup Collection for Rebar Bending

Three-arm rotary collector taking finished stirrups off a bending machine automatically, running in daily production since January 2026.

Automatic Stirrup Collection for Rebar Bending - Three-arm rotary collector taking finished stirrups off a bending machine automatically, running in daily production since January 2026.

The challenge

Collecting finished stirrups from a bending machine by hand meant an operator working close to a machine that was still cycling, with collection speed limited to what one person could keep up with by hand.

How we approached it

Three-arm rotary head so one arm collects while two hold finished stacks, keeping the bending machine running without waiting on collection
Collector wired into the bending machine so the pneumatic catch cycle is timed to each stirrup as it drops
Screw-jack height adjustment and enable/disable wheels so the same unit can be repositioned between bending machines
Operator sets bundle size from the machine's own control panel rather than a separate interface

The outcome

Operator works clear of the bending zone instead of standing at the discharge
Bending machine runs continuously without waiting on manual collection
In daily production at L&T Steel Service Centre, Kanchipuram since January 2026
