Detection is one thing; changing what a machine does is another, and that boundary should normally stay firm. Where the machine maker explicitly permits it, this passes a detection through to a standard control input on the equipment itself - for example slowing or stopping a hoist. It is not a certified safety circuit and does not replace one.
